Dr. Hala Azzam, PhD, MPH, CPTD
A scientist, a public health professional, a Certified Professional in Talent Development, and a coach, I am often described as an innovative connector, who uses her insight, passion, and creativity to bring together ideas and people. I have helped numerous individuals and several institutions grow and expand.
Throughout my 25 + years of international global health experience, I have worked in government, academia, non-profit, and for-profit, and as a solo entrepreneur. I led the creation of the University of Maryland Global Health Center and helped build new innovative public health research training programs and workshops in the USA and overseas. I have taught, mentored, and coached more than 300 individuals.
I bring extensive experience in navigating cultural and career transitions. I am multilingual, lived in several countries and have worked in more than 10 different countries. My career path has taken me from a basic science researcher to a global health program developer and trainer, entrepreneur, and a well-being and positive psychology coach. My company Coempower provides global health program development and training consulting services to academic and research centers including mentoring and coaching of trainees. My SelfDevelopCoach business focuses on providing workshops and coaching services to help individuals navigate life and/or career transitions and reinvent themselves.
I have many hobbies that allow me to creatively express myself. I enjoy writing, cooking, crafting, and planning craft events to raise money for charity.
